When deciding on a safe that really suits your needs you need to ask yourself some important practical questions:
Do I need insurance cover?
You most likely do and that means your new safe needs to be Insurance certified for the amount that you require. Just because you've seen a safe on the internet that says it's rated for x amount doesn't mean it is! There are many counterfeit safes around and many people only too happy to sell them to you. Your insurance broker will only go by name and Euro rating to give you cover but will inspect the safe in the event of a claim.
BE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE BUYING. A GENUINE SUPPLIER WILL SUPPLY DOCUMENTATION ON REQUEST.
Do I need a time lock?
A certified time lock fitted to your safe is the best possible protection against after hours hold-up as the safe simply can not be opened if the time lock is engaged making the key or code useless to a criminal. A properly fitted timelock will also increase a safes insurance rating.
A time delay lock is the best protection against trading hours hold-up as a raider can usually wait the delay time. Both facilities can be provided by one lock. It is also critically important that the fact you have a time lock is advertised on warning signs about your premises which should prevent a robbery attempt in the first place.
Do I need a deposit trap?
If you need to drop cash to the safe while it's under time lock then the answer is yes. There are several different types of deposit trap but only some are still accepted by insurance companys. If you have a "rotary" trap for example on a 60k overnight cover safe it most likely will only get a cover of 20K. We are always happy to advise you on the best solution to your requirement.
Do I need a new safe?
If your buying a safe with a rating up to €10k overnight then a new safe will probably represent the best value however there are often very good second hand safes available usually in the 20 to 100k range that when re-sprayed and fitted with new certified locks will look as good as new and carry the same insurance rating but at a fraction of the cost. If we can help you in this regard we will.
